Santa's Rum Place Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Crackers: We have had a good friend just visit this area and the log the cache was in is now missing and the camp site is a bit of a mess.
We would have expected more from 4X4ers but as it is not the ideal camp it used to be and it would be hard to hide a cache here now so we are sadly going to disable this one.

Geocache Description:

DISCLAIMER:-
THIS CACHE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAL SANTA.
Santa is a nick name DJ Cache’s eldest daughter gave to the eldest member of Team Crackers.

Warning:-
As with all of our 4x4 caches we have no way of knowing you or your vehicles capabilities and our idea of easy may differ to yours so please be sure you feel confident with the tracks before attempting this cache.
This is now the first of a three cache scenic loop track

There is a seasonally closed gate and the last 600mts can only be accessed by vehicle from October 31st to June 15th.

Back to the Cache
Santa loves 4 wheel driving but was unable to attend the “Weekend Beyond Walhalla Event” because of work. The other half of Team Crackers hitched a ride with Fullonphil and when they spotted this location they both said we have to put a cache here. Any cachers who know Santa will understand the significance of WP1.
With help from Dicko and the Coffee Clan (Supplying the cache) they set about finding a suitable hiding spot.

At WP1 you will find a 200ml container with the Co Ordinates for the cache. This is a easy drive to the seasonally closed gates about 600mt from GZ. The last 600 mts could be rated easy /medium with a steep decent to the river

We located a great rest area near a river approximately 2.5ks from WP1 and the cache was stashed there.

Near GZ at Santa’s Rum Place

You will be rewarded for your effort with a peaceful camping spot with a lovely swimming hole to cool off in before heading back or on to the next in the three part loop drive.

Please take extreme care on the last 600mt of the track if it has rained recently

To complete the scenic circuit head to GC1KFXE – Another Thompson View and then on to GC1KFXH - A Dry Spill ending up back at the Thompson Reservoir Wall.
