the first curve.
The Szegyesd-Valley
An amazing stream-valley bordering Kisszegyesd. Going along the
stream till the source, the miracles of the valley ar coming one
after another... The travel guides sais, that there are 26 caves
facing to the watercourse, and of course there are more serious
crags also.
waypoint
There's a meadow bordering to the village, from spring to autumn
it's a campsite too (
waypoint), and if you don't fear your car, you can follow the
road for ~500 meters. The whole trip is about 10 kms
returning, and at least 3 hours, if you skip the caves.
The path goes along the stream, and you have to cross it many
times, so be sure to have water resistent boot. At low water
also.
The karst-water from the first cave complementing with another
stream is responsible for the water supply of the village, so that
cave is closed at all the time.
All the other caves are opened at all the time, but be sure to have
lamp, and take care!
My favourite is the Girl-Cave
(
waypoint)
It's enough to have a look inside, and you'll understand, why the
cave having a name like that.
The following is a bit more serious, that's the Entz-Cave.
(
waypoint)
You can take great photos there.
The and of the valley is very narrow, you can touch both walls with
your hand all at once. There's moss everywhere on the walls, fallen
trunks high above your head, amazing.
(
waypoint)
There must be some ladders, but unfortunately not. So prepare for
soft climbing.
The valley's most beautiful and big cave is the Jozsef Nador Cave.
(
COORDINATE). After getting in the entrance, and slding through
the clay-fall, you find yourself in a great hall, but that's
the end beacuse of the high water.
The Palczer travel guide sais:
This cave is famous after its stalagmites and stalactites, which
are here nowadays also due to the fortunate environment. The east
passage opening to the right is maybe the most sight-reach part of
the cave. The main passage gets more high and more wide, if you go
more inside the cave, where you can find the Pillar's chamber, the
Giant's hall, the Ball, and so on. The cave was known in detail in
1884, and the people living there knew the cave for a long time,
but they thought that dragons are living inside, so nobody went
in.
The cache
You can find the cache at the and of the valley, where the path
signed with blue triangle starting to go up to the mountain, after
the first curve. The track goes round a rock edge, and there, ~2
meters over the path.
