Today, 100 years after the Wright Bros., we often take air travel for granted. Millions of miles are flown each year for pleasure or business or to move goods around the globe. Yet in the first decades of the last century airplanes and the aviators who flew them were often considered 'knights of the sky,' daring men and women who blazed new pathways and opened new frontiers. Two such pioneers are memorialized here, just steps from the passenger terminal at the Oakland Airport, their commemorative plaque all but ignored by the bustling crowd as they rush to make their flights or to hurry to their cars.
To claim this virtual find, e-mail to me the name of the group that erected this plaque. I'm looking for the exact language on the plaque...
For a bonus, cite the name of the flyers and their aircraft.
