Geocachers and non Geocachers are all invited to the first
Geocaching Event sponsored by Fort Harrison State Park.

The event, which will be held in Building 701 at the park,
behind the Nature History Center. Beginners to advanced-level GPS
users will enjoy this event, which features the fundamentals of GPS
receivers and their controls, how to create and maintain your own
geocache, and where to find web sites related to geocaching in
Indiana. Many Hoosiers received a GPS for Christmas and may looking
for a new hobby, what better way to introduce them to geocaching,
then with fellow geocachers.
A pitch-in lunch will be held at noon for all participants.
There will be an outdoor geocaching exercise in the afternoon.
Participants should dress for weather such as snow, cold and wind.
Participants should bring their own GPS receivers and a pitch-in
dish for the lunch.
There is no fee for this program; however, the weekend DNR gate
fee of $5 per in-state vehicles and $7 for out-of-state vehicles

All geocachers are asked to log a will attend with how many are
coming and what you may be bringing for the pitch-in. If you are

Special Note:
The Battle of the Bulge exhibit will be oen at Fort Harrison State
Park in time to mark the 63rd anniversary of the climatic World War
II battle. The exhibit features battle veterans, weekend programs,
photos, scale models, artifacts, and reenactors of the famous
battle that nearly ended with a disastrous defeat for the allies.
The Battle of the Bulge started on December 16th, 1944. The
German Army launched a counter-offensive through Belgium at the
center of the American lines in mid-winter, catching most of the
American commanders off-guard and the ground troops ill prepared.
The Battle of the Bulge is a compelling story of heroism,
determination, resistance and resolve by all those that
participated in this crucial struggle. Hoosiers from across the
state took park in this historic event to be on exhibit at the
Nature History Center.
Seven scheduled programs will be held on each weekend that the
Battle of the Bulge exhibit is at Fort Harrison. Each program will
be 45 minutes long and begin at 1p.m. at the Nature History Center.
