Shakespeare Bridge

The Shakespeare Bridge was built in
1926. It was named the Shakespeare Bridge because of the
Gothic towers and the arches. It allows Franklin Avenue to
cross a deep ravine. Built of concrete, it was rebuilt in
1998 after the Northridge Earthquake for seismic strength.
During the retrofit, the deck, sidewalks and railings were removed
and rebuilt with reinforced concrete. The bridge was declared
an Historic-Cultural Monument in the City of Los Angeles (No. 126)
in 1974.
Congratulations to
rammd for the FTF.
