Geocache Description:

parking available a gz or across the street. just don't pull a u-turn, it's frowned upon!

"Harbor" in the name of the city reflect the nautical aspirations that hovered over the city in it's early years. The seal of the city contains an oak tree, regarded by the German founders as strong and well grounded, and a ship at full sail.

The closest the city came to being a sea faring city was in 1946. A group of boat builders, Russell Post, Phil Boyd, Howard Care and CP Leek came together and formed Egg Harbor Boat Company.

Their original model, a 28 foot wooden sea skiff was designed and built to extremely high standards and catered to the wealthy experienced boater.

During the 1950's CP Leak purchased his partner's shares and merged with Pacemaker Yacht. By the 1960's they had become one of the largest pleasure boat manufactures in the country.

Egg Harbor maintianed it's focus as a limited quantity builder of high quality cruising and sport fishing yachts. Their reputation grew through the 60's and 70's.

During the 1980's with the down turn in the economy, business waned. In November of 1997 they ceased operations.

The company was sold and with new owners they are back in operation producing a limited amount of boats.

During it's heyday, there were 3 locations in EHC, The cache location, Boston Ave and Buerger St, and Breman and the White Horse Pike.
