Ok, now that the dust has settled here are the results of the

- Team XRay (681)
- Three Blind Mice (604)
Oldhat Division
- Team Skeeter Feeders (502)

All the winners were present for the awarding of the medals
except Hotlanta Geo. We will mail their medals to their team
leader.
The medals were a 2 inch version of the front of the geocoin.
1st place was gold, 2nd place was silver, 3rd place was copper.
PLEASE NOTE: We didn't get the geocoins until the day before the
event, so we didn't have the activation numbers at that time. To
activate your geocoins, go to http://www.coincodes.com Click on
the geoquest coin icon (Smoky Bear head) then enter the tracking
number printed on Smoky Bear's Shovel on the back of the coin. THE
GEOQUEST COIN HAS BEEN POSTED ON THE COINCODES.COM WEBSITE. YOU CAN
NOW GO THERE TO ACTIVATE YOUR COINS.
We want to thank all the people that helped make the Event and
success. There were a few gliches, but overall, we think everything
went well.
We appreciate all the hard work the volunteers put in to make
sure all of our guests were taken care of and the challenges,
travelbug exchange, t-shirt and coin sales went well. They worked
their hineys off and we couldn't have put on an event like this
without them.
We also want the thank all the businesses and the Great Smoky
Mtns National Park for allowing us to intrude on them for a day or
two. The cache route would have been much less interesting had
these people not allowed us to make them a stop on the route.
Thanks to all the teams that signed up to participate in the
team competion. Everyone did a good job playing by the rules
(mostly), and in general, we think we made a positive impression on
the local community about our sport.
In a day or 2, fluffy will send a list of the caches you should
log for the event to all the team leaders for distribution to their
team members. There will be 72 plus the actual event.
Lastly, we would like to invite everyone to visit our Club
webpage (http://www.gsmgc.org)
and keep up with what is going on with geocaching in our area. Feel
free to sign up as a member no matter where you are from.
Registration is free and we welcome you to join our area caching
community.
We hope everyone made it home safe. Thanks again to all who took
the time to come visit our beautiful countryside for the
weekend!
