The Chicken or the Egg Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dreamer: I was not able to locate another good hiding spot near the final area, and the house where the chicken lived has been torn down, so I decided it was time to archive this cache. Besides, the final area is still covered by cache which is less than 200 feet of the previous final of this cache.

Geocache Description:

The purpose of this cache is to have some fun answering the age old question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Finders please include you answer in you log. WARNING: There is nothing at the posted coordinates so don’t bother going there. They are half way between the chicken and egg waypoints so you can decide which came first on your own.

I got the idea for this cache last year while riding my bicycle to work on the Green River trail. The two waypoints are locations on the trail where I often encountered chickens and always encountered eggs. To locate the cache you will need to count the number of chickens or eggs at the appropriate waypoint.

The original cache was mugged so I have relocated it in a wooded area slightly farther from the bike trail. I also modified the chicken waypoint so both waypoints can now be found without stepping off of the paved bike trail. If you take the trail your total round trip walking distance will be a little over 2 miles, however if you are lucky you can drive to all of the locations and park within 200-300 feet of them.

The eggs are large and obvious. If you don’t see them right away start looking for the much smaller chickens. I could not convince the right number of chickens to stay on the trail all the time so I placed their pictures near the trail instead. The original microcache, a 1” x 2” x ½” black plastic mint container in a plastic bag, is still there but the new waypoint should be much easier to spot.

Waypoint – N 47 29.912, W 122 17.165

Waypoint – N 47 30.142, W 122 17.791

Cache location: N47 30.(108*eggs + 2*chickens), W122 18.(18*(chickens + eggs))

The cache container is now a cylindrical tupperware storage container painted brown. The original contents of the second container were a pair of duck figures, a dove ink stamp and the Diagonal TB.
