This is a two-part multi cache near where the Lone
Ranger
Patrol of Boy Scout Troop 180 camped during the Spring Camporee of
April 2004.
The
walk from
the angel to the cache will offer you an opportunity to visit one of
the nicest
city parks in Indiana.
Truly one of the gems of small town Indiana.
The kind referred to in the John Mellencamp
song, Small Town.
The first stage is virtual.
You will need to enter an area that only should be accessed from
7:00 am to 9:00 pm. It
is
open every day. You will see some sort
of structure with an angel (Not the, "Look Homeward Angel", but the
nativity angel) on top of it that is protecting Ogan and need to find
the date he left us to find the
coordinates to the final stage.
Use the
following formula to get the final coordinates: N. 40* (day).(last
three digits
of year minus 288) W. 086* 02.505. A
calculator
or pen and paper might help if you are not the best at mental math. The final step will be right across the creek
from where we camped. It is a micro that
is big enough for small prizes (pins, dominoes, coins, etc.), but not
big enough
for a pencil or pen so PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WRITING UTENSIL. Because of the way that the second stage is
hidden, it might present a challenge. If
there are a lot of people around, please be discrete. The
cords should be pretty good, but there was a lot
of cloud cover, so
they might be a little off. Check out
some of the pictures from our weekend!
