Geocache Description:

Located at a communication site on a mountain knoll over looking the Sky Valley, Mt Index, and peaks to the east. Mt. Baring is the jagged 6125 ft el peak you see looking east from the cache. Elevation is 1986 and was snow free on the sunny day I placed it. Drive by caching at it's best. You are looking for a small lok-n-lok box.

This good gravel road affords some incredible views in an area of little geocaches. While doing the nearby A Ride in Reiter cache last spring I drove up this road and saw a good spot for a cache. I finally made it back here today and see there is a new road leading to some great views. This is the first of three I placed in this area and the views are just getting started. Bring a camera and binoculars and get ready for some incredible scenery. Drive US 2 east of Goldbar to mile post 30 and turn left on Reiter Rd. Go approx. 1/2 mile to a sharp curve and continue east on the paved road. This road will take you past the Reiter Gravel pits and large 4x4, motorcycle, quad playground that's a popular place on weekends. Miles around this area is a 4x4 playground, so be watchfull if you go on a weekend. Continue east on this paved road about 3 miles to a left turn at N 47 49.931 W 121 36.533 You'll now be on a gravel road that starts out a bit bumpy, but gets much better as you get away from the 4x4 area. Climb north about 3 miles and turn right at N 47 50.173 W 121 34.731 This junction is the beginning of a new road that climbs another 4 miles to my other two caches. Vertigo View and What a View. Nearby side road leads to the excellent cache A Ride in Reiter. Road up is a bit bumpy, but passable in a car. You can drive very close to the cache. There's a large communication site here and I see lots of garbage, so please CITO if you can.

Update: 3-19-08, replaced missing ammo box. Road is a bit rough, so take it slow.

Update 1-25-11 Over the past year DNR has closed this area down to motorized access and is in the process of making it into a ORV Park. Foot access is still allowed via the Deer Creek road. This will add about 5 miles r/t. I'll update the terrain rating.
