Geocache Description:

Fish Eagle, GPS Storm and RedGlobe invite you to join us on 16th Dec (the public holiday) for some fun in the quaint little village of Kaapsehoop, which is renowned for it's amazing views and stunning nature, and it's resident herd of about 200 wild horses.

The event get-together is at the pancake restaurant Pan-en-Koek, starting at 12:00 noon until whenever. We're saying 12:00, because the host ladies will be there at that time to secure a table of whatever size we need, before the lunch-time rush arrives. But it's OK to only arrive around 13:00 which is when the "epic hikers" expect to be back.

The restaurant is licenced to sell beers and ciders, but we're not sure if hard tack is available. Kiddies are very welcome, and there's an informal sort-of playground downstairs for them to have fun in. The village is also safe for them to roam around freely, and there are lots of bunnies and chickens in the village.

There are many superb caches in the Kaapsehoop area, some easy, some not so easy, and there's something to fit everybody's taste. Feel free to contact Fish Eagle for advice regarding caches and routes in the area. Please note that the two Battery Creek Waterfall caches - top GC1XCN7 and bottom GCZ3WC are both stunning, especially bottom!! They require a permit which is available from Koek-en-Pan for a nominal amount (think it's still R10pp) and well worth the minimal cost.

Your event hosts will be doing the "epic hike" before the event, along the route past Adam's Calender (believed to be oldest human structure in the world, and dated at 75,000+ years old), to the cache Blue Swallow. This hike is about 10-11 kms round trip on good trails with gentle gradients. We invite you to join us, else feel free to do your own thing with some easier caches in the area (or just rock up for the event, fill your belly, and have some fun!!). If you wish to join us for the hike, we'll be leaving from S25°35.954 E030°45.760 (downloadable waypoint below), at 8am sharp. Please let us know if you intend to join us.
