A Flash Mob is described as “ a large group of people who assemble
suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief
period of time, then quickly disperse.”
I am not sure having a good time with friends for 15 minutes should
be considered performing an unusual action, but once you have read
the break-down for this event, you may have a differing
opinion!
We are meeting at the courtyard represented by the above
coordinates, flanked by two amazing buildings which have recently
opened in Virginia Beach: the Westin hotel, now billed as the
tallest building in the state, and the Sandler Center for the
Performing Arts. I expect both of these buildings to become icons
of Virginia Beach.
This event is open to old and young alike, but is designed
especially for the young ones, (and the young at heart). We will
not exclude those who are
Grumpy
Or those who are crotchety
Or those who are just Too Cool
We welcome the beautiful
And the not-so-beautiful
And the down-right strange!
All of these people are doing the same thing. Having fun with
friends. (Well, there is one other thing they are doing, and this
will soon be revealed.)
The schedule of events is as
follows:
Before 1:00 -- All participants should be moving toward
Ground Zero, but they should not obviously recognize one another.
Everyone should be acting as if they have come to Town Center for
their own reasons. In other words, act like a muggle!
At 1:00 Leo and I will enter the courtyard area with a
small boom box for music and a log book. At this time, all
participants will converge on the area. There is a large
semi-circular cement bench to lay out and exchange TBs, coins, etc.
Everyone needs to sign the logbook, but spend the next few minutes
enjoying the company of your fellow cachers.
At 1:07, I will key up the boom box for a special
performance. (I am hoping for 100% participation, but hopefully at
least the young, and young at heart will join in. You can follow
the links below for this exciting moment!)
1:10, only 3 minutes later, the special presentation will
end. We will then organize ourselves for a group photo.
At 1:15 the event is over, and we ask that you quickly
disperse the area. Please meet up with friends for caching or lunch
at a pre-determined point. There are dozens of caches within a few
miles of here, so hopefully you can get in a day of caching!
So what are we doing for these three minutes? Celebrating Life.
Daily.
This came out in 1996, so if you need to practice, go

See you there!
