How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This will be a very informal gathering and everyone no matter where you live is invited. It doesn't matter if you are a veteran geocacher or have never been on a geocache hunt in your life or you are somewhere in between.

We are going to have a exchange of information on Sunday Jan, 8 in the upstairs (handicap accessible) meeting room of the Hastings Library located at 517 W 4th in Hastings, NE. Bring your laptop if you like as we will have internet access. Also bring your tools that you use for geocaching and exchange ideas with fellow cachers about how you do things when you go geocaching (GSAK, Cachemate, Mapsource, Mapsend, Direct Route, Street Atlas USA, Palm, Pocket PC, paperless caching, etc). We can all learn from each other and exchange tricks and tips. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend this event. The event will start at 1:00 P.M. and we can stay till 4:45.

There will be refreshments and giveaways including a ready to go geocaching GPSr.

If there is something you are interested in please email me through my profile or leave a note on this page and we will try and find information about that item and put it on the program.

UPDATES

We have another Cacher in Nebraska that has reached the "1K Caches Found Mark". We will formally recognize the new 1K Cacher during this event.

Carleenp (Carleen) is a charter member who joined geocaching on November 07, 2001. She found her 1k on December 27, 2005.

Carleen is an attorney/career law clerk for Judge Connolly at the Nebraska Supreme Court. She also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law and teaches a section of Legal Research and Writing. Carleen has been Secretary /treasurer of Nebraskache Geocaching Organization and was an editor of Today's Cacher which is an online magazine for geocachers.

Carleen is a volunteer reviewer for the geocaching site and also active in the geocaching forums. She is a fun person to go geocaching with. She is a role model for our sport making it better and giving back time and again by placing caches, hosting events and CITOs and attending events in different parts Nebraska as well as representing Nebraska at events in different parts of the USA.

Whether you are a new Cacher or old, if you have met her before or not. Come and meet Carleen and other Cachers who you have not met.

The winner of the poll for the 2006 Nebraskache Geocoin design will also be announced at this gathering so be sure to vote for your choice by Jan 5 at the Nebraskache Geocoin design poll
