This St. Patricks
Day event is open to all cachers, WSGA members or not and
highlights the wonderful Museum of Flight! That's right, not a
pizza event this time, but an interesting and fun event at the
Museum of Flight!
The Museum of
Flight offers hundreds of exhibits both indoor and outdoor with
lots of vintage planes that are both civilian and military craft.
The museum also has a cafe, gift shop AND (a personal favorite) has
two different kinds of flight simulators that you can try out! If
you have ever wanted to fly a P-51 Mustang or an F-18 Hornet you
can give a try while visiting the museum. For additional info about
the Museum of Flight, check out the link at the top of the event
page.
Heres the
scoop:
The geocaching
event itself is FREE. There is no charge to show up and sign the log and
leave if you so desire. However, the highlight of the event is the
"guided" tour by a Museum of Flight employee. This part of the
event requires a paid admission. Since we are a group, the
museum offers special discounted admission which is as
follows:
Adults - $14
(regularly $17)
Seniors - $12 (65
+) (regularly $14)
Youth - $7 (5 -
17 years old) (regularly $9)
The flight
simulators are not part of the paid admission and thus cost extra.
Vouchers for the flight sims can be purchased at $5 and $8
depending upon the flight sim you want to try
out.
Heres the
event info:
DATE: 3/17/12 (ST. PATRICKS DAY SO WEAR YOUR
GREEN!)
TIME: 1:30 PM WITH THE TOUR TO BEGIN AT 2:00 PM
TOUR
LENGTH: Between 2 & 3 Hours.
There will not be
any food provided at this event so you will want to grab lunch
(corned beef sandwich perhaps) prior to the event. I will do
a very quick raffle for those who stick around and will do it just
before the tour begins. So you will want to get to this event prior
to 1:30.
IF YOU
PLAN TO TAKE THE TOUR, PLEASE POST IN YOUR "WILL ATTEND" LOG
HOW MANY ADULTS AND CHILDREN WILL BE PURCHASING TICKETS (wrist
bands) . I need this info as admission to the museum will be be
taken AT THE TIME OF THE LOG BOOK SIGNING. At that time, you will
get wrist bands that allow you into the museum which will be
at the discounted rate noted above. If you get to the event late
(after 2 PM), you will miss out on getting the discounted admission
price.
Look forward to
seeing you there!
This event is sponsored by the Puget Sound Chapter of the
Washington State Geocaching Association. If you are a geocacher in
