Geocache Description:

A 2 stage multi-cache in beautiful Julian L. Capik Nature Preserve in Sayreville, NJ. The name of this cache comes from the township owned Washington Riding Stables being there, run by Gary Halper of Piscataway fame. Piscataway's loss is Sayreville's gain!

Capik Nature Preserve (sign) Capik Preserve

Bring your bicycle to this beautiful 571-acre preserve. Miles of trails, horseback riding, hiking and fishing. (Fishing is by permit and only for Sayreville residents.) There are a few picnic tables near the entrance. I couldn't find posted hours for the park. According to Sayreville ordinance though parks close 1 hour after dusk. Note that posted signs say that dogs are not allowed in the water, and Sayreville ordinance states dogs in parks must be leashed (except for the dog park of course).

Park at the dog park and take the trail head. You will be walking (or biking) on a wide dirt path/road the whole time except for the last 50 feet of stage two where light bushwacking is involved.

Stage one is approximately .15 mile from parking and is in a pill container key chain. It is less than 5 feet from the trail and no bushwacking required. (Any more than 5 feet off the trail and you'll be in one of two ponds.) Stage two is another 1/4 mile away near the lagoon.
Cache is a small lock-n-lock, and it is starting out with a recently activated TB (ShellyShel's Shell), a geocoin (Blue Ocean), a PFN card (thanks Ekitt10) and a small toy. FTF gets a $5 gift card to K-Mart. This my first attempt at a cache, so please be kind :) I wanted it to be a very easy multi where people can enjoy the preserve. I was blessed with 11 satellites when placing the cache so I'm pretty sure the coords are spot on. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!

Congrats to mblatch on the FTF!

NOTE: If you're planning to do all the caches in this preserve in one trip, my suggestion is to take a leisurely 2 mile (approx) walk or bike ride around the lakes clockwise and do the caches in this order:

GC1FJW2 - Ruby's Retreat (start or end with this one)
GC1CQ5K - Giddy Up (stage 1)
GC1HAR2 – The Throne
GC1RPNV – Boscobaby’s Big Bloo Bukkit
GC1F38Q - Cosmo's Place
GC1CQ5K - Giddy Up (stage 2)
GC1RQHG – ShellyShel’s Eraser Cache
