Wir feiern 10 Jahre EarthCache
Am 10.Januar 2004 wurde südlich von Sydney der 1. Earthcache „Earthcache I – a simple geologytour of Wasp Head“ freigeschaltet und seit dem war der Erfolg dieser Cachevariante nicht mehr zu bremsen.The Geological Society of America und Groundspeak können zufrieden sein, denn mittlerweile wurde die Idee„Learning about the planet we call home“ und „Let the Earth be your teacher!“ weltweit mehr als 16.000-mal aufgegriffen. Allein in Österreich gibt es fast 400 EarthCaches. Hier begann der Hype um die neue Cachegattung zwar erst im September 2005, mit dem Cache „Gletscher Cacher - 1. Earthcache Österreichs“ vom Team PPete.
On the 10th of January 2004 on a headland 3 hrs south of Sydney, Australia the very first EarthCache was 'placed' by Geoaware and his two daughters.
EarthCache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head sat for two weeks before it was found by Tankengine.
The first log reads: Chooo ooo *FTF* The family wanted to go to the beach today, and I thought that was a great idea! They had fun in the sand, and I went off to do the cache. It was great! Just a like exploring around the rock pools, but with a geology lesson thrown in! I’ve seen similar formations in the past, and often wondered how the heck they got to be like that, but here all was explained! Fantastic! The only minor difficulty was the initial access from the beach to the rocks, but after that it was easy going. (I think it was high tide). Excellent cache thanks geoaware – now I’m looking forward to more…

Was würde sich besser anbieten, als ein Gasthaus mit einen angebauten Steinmuseum?
Wir treffen uns daher am Freitag den 10.01.2014 um 19°°Uhr beim Gasthaus Holzer am Csaterberg!
