Small geocache hidden close to a trail in the middle of the beautiful 316-acre Rutgers Ecological Preserve. The relatively flat trails that span this park are great for mountain biking and hiking. There's a lot to explore. If you have some time I recommend following the trail east and checking out the rock formations of Buell Brook.

I have found a variety of parking options and entrances to the preserve and I have included one of my favorite parking spots as a waypoint. Please be respectful of the neighbors when parking on this quiet street and proceed directly into the woods on a pseudo-trail until you encounter a marked trail. If you choose to park on or near Rutgers Campus instead, always check the signs first and park at your own risk.
Rutgers Ecological Preserve Info:
Established in 1976, Rutgers Ecological Preserve sits mostly in Piscataway, with portions in Highland Park and Edison. Professors teach classes in the preserve and the public enjoys its scenic trails for hiking, jogging, mountain biking, birding, and nature walks.
Walking through the preserve, it's easy to see why Joyce Kilmer was moved to write his famous poem
"I think that I shall never see, a poem lovely as a tree."
