There was a once a time when dragons ruled the land. People
feared to tread as they spent most of their lives living in caves
too small for the large beast to get their noses into. This of
course lasted for many moons until one day when something happened
that changed the way people decided to live.
Early one morning when the people of gnorg village were doing
their chores, the men went hunting for bear while the women and
children went and got water for the laundry and pick the fruits and
vegetables this of course was on a limited basis as they knew the
dragons would sleep during the hours of daylight. While the men
were hunting they saw something large in the sky, a dragon. It
seemed the dragon was flying to their home so the men of course ran
as fast as they could but it was too late. When they got there 2
hours later, there was nothing left except smoldering trees.
With more than half their village gone the men decided it was
time to take the power of the land back. They knew the wise men of
the land were the ones to speak to in order to find out how to
defeat the dragons that killed their home so they set off further
up the mountains moving during the day under the cover of trees as
fast as they could without being seen as the dragons were starting
to come out during the day more and more. This of course proved a
difficult journey as they had gotten attacked from time to time,
but as the days passed during their trek from one ridge to the next
to the peak of despair where the wise men of the land lived. Once
within the lair of the wise men the men of gnorg spent hours
resting on the request of the wise men and then were instructed on
how to lure the dragons to the most optimal location where they
could kill them. They were armed with much knowledge of the dragons
and of course set out to the rugged Bernard Valley, which was named
after one of the sages that once lived within the village of
gnorg.
The men spent the next couple of days collecting branches and
old clothing and twine to make up a bunch of dummies to stand up in
the lower section of the valley as well as other surprises. With
all the tall trees the men were able to make great stakes that
would swing out and pierce the dragons as well as setting up some
boulders to roll down on the dragons. The men would then draw their
own blood to pour onto the dummies to add the scent of a true
human, otherwise the dragons would not even go near such an obvious
trap. Finally they would have arrows covered in Carrot and Celery
Juice as this was the combination that would truly hurt the dragons
and make them rather ill before they meet their makers.
Upon the morning of the day of the attack it seemed quite
silent, only a few birds and animals moving about causing the men
to twitch each time a small noise was made. Hours went by so slow
it was painful for the men more than the idea they were going to
battle the dragons. They wanted it at this point and with the sun
almost setting the dragons came.
There must have been at least 8 or 9 of them flying in at full
force but the men tired as they were had been ready to fight since
the day the dragons took their families away. As soon as the
dragons touched ground the boulders started rolling down into the
valley which of course made the dragons fly up into the trap of the
large stakes being launched into the sky. It was with this
precision that half of the dragons were taken out in a matter of
seconds, though they squirmed and flailed on the ground spitting
fire on the remaining dragons. During this confusion the men loaded
up their arrows and shot away at the remaining ones which were
burning down each and every thing they saw in front of them. When
all was said in done the carcasses of dragons had littered the
valley and if one escaped it was only to die elsewhere. The men of
course wanted to bury these evil things had decided to build a dam
and bury them underwater.
Funny enough the lake they created in the valley that they once
had lived had taken shape of a dragon. Maybe it was a warning to
other dragons or maybe it was just coincidence. Either way no
dragon had ever harmed a soul since this day.
Though most of the remains have since disappeared over time
there is still some remains at this lake, the only piece showing
above the water is a tooth. This dragons tooth is the symbol of
those that had once lived and died by the dragons.
Finding The Tooth:
Starting at the stone walk north along the dam, turn right on the
first trail you see (blue blaze). Follow this trail until you reach
the a bridge with rails. Do not cross the bridge, you will
need to turn right and go towards the shore. Follow the shoreline
to where you will see the tooth looming overhead and within the
cavity you will find the container.
