This cache is located near the Hokitika Airport (about a 20 min walk from where most tour buses stop and central to most accommodation spots) and is designed to act as both a Tourist Information Centre and a Travel Bug Hotel (read the instructions below). It's also at quite a scenic vantage point (ie is of interest to tourists) and should be easy to find.
Locating The Cache.Proceed to the plane table at the cache co-ordinates. Point the plane table pointer at Mount French. The cache is a 2 litre cammo painted snap lock container, hidden under the (very) large shrub, 60 metres towards Mt French.How this cache works;Tourist Information Centre.Please use the logbook in the cache to record places of interest that you have visited during your travels (with GPS co-ordinates) so that other travellers can enjoy some of the spots that you have visited.Travel Bug Hotel.This cache has no trading items other than travel bugs. It is specifically designed to be at a central location, close to the airport and close to tourist stops and accommodation so that travellers passing through the area can use it as a staging post for travel bugs. Please put in a travel bug for each travel bug that you remove.
