Historique
Pendant la dernière guerre, alors que les bombardements s’abattaient sur Châteaubourg, en particulier sur la gare SNCF située au milieu de l’agglomération, un voeu de paroissiens avait été fait :
<<La construction d’une Chapelle qui serait dédiée à Sainte Anne patronne des Bretons>>
Châteaubourg ayant été relativement épargné, la chapelle fut édifiée en 1947. Une portion d’un grand champ en bordure du site des Vallons fut donnée par une famille pour l’emplacement de la chapelle. Des artisans, des bénévoles se mirent au travail pour la construction.
Construction
La Chapelle Sainte Anne est construite de schiste et grès et couverte en ardoise. Sa façade de pierre est surmontée d’une croix en granit avec, englobée à sa base, une petite cloche, un oculus. Son toit, très important, est très pentu. La ligne en est coupée par des pinacles triangulaires. Deux petites niches de chaque côté de la porte d’entrée, donnent un aspect peu commun aux chapelles de la région.
Selon la tradition, après Pâques, une messe était célébrée dans la chapelle le troisième jeudi du mois. Un pèlerinage solennel avait lieu le dimanche suivant la fête de Sainte-Anne, le 26 juillet
Restauration
La restauration du site date de 2002. Une souscription volontaire a été lancée à l'occasion des 20 ans du jumelage de la commune avec Iffeldorf, un village de Bavière. La municipalité, le conseil général et l'association du collège Saint-Joseph ont participé à cette opération
Aujourd'hui
Renovée et entrenue par une association de bénévoles, elle s'ouvre au public pendant les week-ends.
Si vous y passez pendant les heures d'ouverture, n'hésitez pas à y entrer..
Vous y découvrirez l'autel avec, au-dessus, une grande statue de Sainte-Anne avec la Vierge. De chaque côté trônent deux autres statues, une de la Vierge, en béton, qui pèse plus de 200 kg, et une autre en plâtre de Saint-Pierre.

restoration
Restoration of the site dates back to 2002. A voluntary subscription was launched to mark the 20th anniversary of the twinning of the town with Iffeldorf, a village in Bavaria. The municipality, the council and the association of Saint Joseph's College participated in this operation
