Take a ride on the Zim Smith!
Thanks to the Geek Squad for testing the series!!
A fun ride on the Zim Smith Bike Trail with caches along the way. This series is set up to be a fun day’s worth of bike riding or a nice long (really long) walk.
The thought behind this series came from the idea that we like to take the bikes and hit a trail for the day and, as a bonus stop and hit a playground or two for the kids. This series will allow you to enjoy a full day on the bike trail and enjoy a variety of different settings and caches.
You can start the trail at many locations and decide where you want to head in. An easy parking area is at Shenantaha Park in Malta off of East Line Road. At the park there are picnic tables, restrooms and a playground for the kids.
The catch….there’s always a catch.
There are 16 caches along the bike trail including a final….somewhere along the trail. To locate the final you must find the other caches along the trail and get a coordinate from each one. Out of the caches on the trail, some have coordinates to the final and some do not – you won’t know until you find each one. Also, don’t skip a step…..because some of the caches may have clues that alter other clues from other caches. Once you find all of the caches, the final is easy. The complete series will be out by the end of the week (3/14)
Although the caches are all along the Zim Smith Trail, this is not a power trail and if you choose to do it all at once, it may easily take you all day on a bike. Some caches are very close to the trail and some are further, so, be prepared and read each description for terrain and difficulty.
ZIM – Streamside Multi
This is a 2 part Multi with a decon final. The terrain on the first part is a little more difficult because it is near the steeper side of the stream, so just take your time. The final is pretty easy.
While you're there enjoy the scenery on this part of the trail - waterfalls on one side and a beautiful stream cut on the other.
