Geocache Description:

Park at roadside spring, take a drink and enter at path accross the street. 1 mile hike thru a beautiful hemlock forest to the rock carvings at Deer Rock. Path is vague to non-existant in many places. Steep climb up the hill from Deer Rock to the cache. There are big rocks, and climbing will be required. Flashlights may be helpful, but not required. If you liked my Umbrella Rock Cache, you will like this one too!

The cache at Deer Rock was placed with the permission of Camp Coffman Ministries. Please be advised that the woods are filled with slippery rocks, high cliffs, pointy sticks, hungry bears, rattlesnakes and other hazards normally found in nature. By attempting this cache, you assume total liability and risk associated with this activity.

Start your journey by parking at N41* 18.996 W79*35.257.  There is a great spring here to get a cold drink of water from.  Fill up, and enter the woods at the other side of the road.  Hike along the creek, and head to Deer Rock, at  N41* 19.469 W079*34.700.  Once you have enjoyed the rock carvings, make the short climb to the cache location.

Cache is in a large black ammo can.  Read the spoiler, and look at the spoiler pic before you kill yourself looking.  If you can't reach the cache itself, you can still get full credit for this cache by posting photos of the area with your GPS, you, your buddies..... whatever! Please hide the cache well when you are done

Believe it or not, but this is by far the easiest path to the area.  On your way back, resist the temptation to cross the suspension bridge at N41* 19.080 W79*34.834.  The bridge is unsafe, and leads to Camp Coffman itself.  We wish to avoid disturbing the campers there.  My 4 year old son can make this hike.  The terrain rating is due to the lack of a trail in places, steep slopes, and tight crevices that must be negotiated.
