This cache is located on Corte Madera Mountain. The trails up to
the mountain are steep and rocky at first, but eventually level
off. Elevation of the cache is 4645'.
Corte Madera Mountain can be accessed via Corral Canyon Off-Road
Vehicle park (ORV). The entrance to the park is located off of
Buckman Springs Road, which can be accessed off of Interstate 8 at
the rest area. Follow Buckman Springs Rd towards Lake Moreno until
you reach the Corral Canyon ORV turnoff. The trailhead for the
cache is at N32 45.009' W116 34.489'. Either a high clearance
two-wheel drive vehicle, or a 4-wheel drive is recommended to reach
the trailhead. Also, there's an access hiking trail from Lake
Moreno that I don't have the coordinates to. I've also mountain
biked this to the trailhead, but it's a long way to bike and you'll
have to stash your bike in order to access the cache. Generally,
the trails are easy to follow and well marked.
The cache is in a 50 caliber ammo can filled to the top with
stuff Bronco Bob and I pilfered out of our homes!
