Geocache Description:

A small cache round Entwistle Reservoir.

“Toby’s Treasure Trail 1” is one of a series of six caches (as at February 2007, we are hoping to place more here soon, but it may be some time so don’t wait to come and do these ones!) around Entwistle Reservoir. This is one of Toby’s favourite places to come for a walk, and not just because there is often bread lying around where people have been feeding the ducks!!

The reservoir was built in 1832 and has a capacity of 726 million gallons, but more importantly there are (in our opinion) some breathtaking views. It is often busy on the path around the water, but a couple of the series have been placed to take you onto a few of the other paths, which in our experience can be a little quieter.

The main path is suitable for off road buggies and bikes, but you will have to leave the path to get some of the caches, although you should never be far from it. As a guide, when we placed the caches we had NanoJug with us in his three wheeler.

We suggest you park at the co-ordinates given below and do a circular walk of around about three miles, during which you will be able to get all of the caches, and a couple of others set by other cachers.

When placed (24 February 2007) the caches, all of which are small, contained a few toys: nothing spectacular I’m afraid, because for us, the joy is in being around this area, so signing the log book is enough.

There isn’t a FTF prize in each cache: the prize is for the first person to find all six caches. In each cache you will find a slip with a number on: make a note of that number, but please play fairly and do not remove the slip. Once you have found all six caches; total the six numbers you should have collected and send that total to us by contacting us through our profile. Once we have checked that you have signed all the cache logs in person we will arrange to send you your prize. We haven’t decided what it will be yet!

Anyway, enjoy the trail; and if you bump into a muddy labrador / retriever cross on your way round, ask him if his name is Toby!

Specific comment about this cache: This one is slightly off the main path round the reservoir; once you have found it you can carry on through the trees, or return to the main path.
