Nice views at the junction of two major trails in the Sierra
Azul.
This cache is at the junction of the Limekiln and Priest Rock
trails in the Sierra Azul OSP. I took the Limekiln Trail up from
Lexington, then came back down the Priest Rock trail for a total of
5.1 miles and about a 1200' elevation gain.
The Limekiln trail follows a creek canyon past a quarry and up to a
ridge. From here you can also proceed to the Woods Road trail or up
to Kennedy Road. It's a straight up climb but is shaded...
The cache is a small ammo can, with trade items for kids (they
deserve something if they make the climb). While you are up here,
be sure to visit the Priest Rock cache.

February 1 by bykenut (4578 found) 4th of 8 finds while hiking and caching on this side of Sierra Azul with CompuRanger inbetween the rain storms, a good choice as the trails were not muddy.Awesome views here. Cool to see the various different views at the nearby junction. Read the hint and description to make sure we really needed to go there. Easy find. Took Simpson toy. Left solar powered calculator.

January 31 by Michael_SFBA (1774 found) Easy find thanks to good coords. I'm glad I went this way on my way up to El Sombroso because I'm not sure I would have had the energy to scramble after this one on the way down. (Actually I think I could always find the energy to scramble for a cache. )TNLNSL TFTC!

January 11 by Dotish (1852 found) Enjoyed my hike up here this afternoon. I thought I would stop and sit a while to enjoy the views up here, but a strong, cold wind was blowing, so I didn't stay long. Though the terrain was a bit out of my comfort zone, I managed to get to the cache and inspect its contents, then inched myself back to the trail. From here I went down the Priest Rock trail, where I saw a bobcat on the trail! Thanks for the cache!

December 30, 2009 by The North Star (606 found) After hiking (or maybe it was crawling) up the Limekiln trail, I wasn’t quite sure which way to go when I reached the trail junction. As it turned out, I went the correct way and found the cache (without the hint) right where it was supposed to be (due to the excellent coordinates). It was a little tougher getting back onto the trail than it was off .This was the fifth of seven caches that I found on today’s 6+ mile hike on the Limekiln/Priest Rock trails. TNLNSL TFTC #557
