UPDATED CACHE COORDINATES 24 JANUARY 2005. Cache moved slightly (no
more than 15 feet) to make it a little tougher, as a geotrail was
being created.
You wouldn't know it now, but for many years a large,
three-story building stood right where this cache is! It was the
site of a residential care facility for malnourished, anemic, and
Tuberculosis-susceptible children. Note I said "susceptible," the
children were sent here to prevent TB, not because they had it. The
site was opened in 1921, and the old house burned to the ground in
1999. I haven't been able to find out when it closed. In fact, the
ONLY references to it I could find on the internet were a reference
in an old county census, and this:

Mind you, I don't put any stock in that ghost story, but I still
wouldn't be prowling around here at night! I'll post a picture of
the original newspaper article, and I'll update the listing if I
get more info. Cache is a medium size ammo can with hopefully
something for everyone, including easily amused kiddies, and a CITO
bag that may come in handy for those so inclined. Watch out for
poison ivy/oak/sumac, etc. If you see any, please note it in your
log. I tend to overlook it, since I'm not allergic...at least I
(itch itch) don't think (scratch scratch) I am!There is a circular
driveway to park in, but be careful of two things: broken bottles,
and speed {efforcement}! The police like to use the driveway, too!
A few even like to geocache! (Thanks cachecop35!)
There is also some playground equipment just down the hill, but
it looks seldom used, so I'd check it out carefully before turning
the kiddies loose!
