See
mog's cache for parking details and cautions. The trail head is
roughly equidistant between the two caches.
When you find the cache container do not try to remove it -
carefully unscrew the base to get to the log book. Don't drop it!
If you do you get to take it home, dry it out, and return it.
As it's a micro there is only room for small trade items - like
coins and folding money. The cache currently contains a 1917 penny,
a German Mark, a Canadian Dollar and a Bahamian Dollar. Please
write small (or only enter your name and date) and use both sides
of each page. Thanks!
Update 3/30/03:
Dried out the log book while at the wetlands picking up trash and
clearing brush off the trails. It was a nice breezy and sunny day
for that. It's sad to see the vandalism to the bridges, as well as
the damage nature has done since the trail system was constucted.
Please continue to pick up trash and debris off the trails. Even if
all you do is kick a few branches off the trail that helps to keep
it looking used and discourages those who want to damage the
structures. When I put the log book back in the cache I stopped to
watch a muskrat having lunch only a few feet away. He never saw me.
Please only screw the container together snugly - too tight forces
the o-ring out and moisture can get in. Enjoy!
Update 1/31/04:
The wetlands will be closed to the public until trail access and
trail restoration work has been completed. You may see "Posted - No
Trespassing" signs. If you park anywhere but at a nearby business
mall security will question you. However, you can access the cache
if you let the Ga. Wildlife Federation know ahead of time.
To do this please e-mail Carol Hassell at chassell@GWF.org.
Be sure to ask for permission before hunting the cache, expect
to wait a couple of days, so please don't look for this cache as a
spur of the moment cache hunt.
My appreciating to Laura Bryant, Jason Diem,Christina Marr, and now
Carol Hassell for allowing this.
