While out breaking in my newly acquired Jeep, I stumbled upon this place and thought it was really neat. Hidden in the middle of the sandy trails of the ONF, this shady spot provides a nice rest from the piercing sun. It is a nice high area just off the edge of Long Pond which is nice and dry this time of year. The trails getting here are sandy and I'd suggest 4WD for sure. I suppose you could hike in from the main roads to the south or north, but that sounds miserable and not fun.
I'm looking to set up a 1 hour CITO where we can tidy up the area which had evidence of more than one refreshing beverages being consumed and not disposed of properly. We can arrive at the posted coordinates, spend an hour cleaning the surrounding area and then the rest is up to you. Underneath the oaks is a nice spot to relax or eat lunch and enjoy the scenery. There is no restrooms or amenities of course out here so please bring ample water, more than you think you need, to sustain yourself. After the event, I'll plan on caching in the area and anyone is more than welcome to caravan along the trails finding caches.
Event Time: 9:00AM-10:00AM
