Coyote Valley View Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RKOwen: It's been four years since last found, and it's not a very hard one to find ... a .50 cal ammo can under a large oak tree. I'm pretty sure it's missing and no one has offered to take it over. So ... it's had a good run. Time to let it go.
I loved hiking up on this ridge.

Geocache Description:

Cache is in the shade along the east ridge line of the Coyote Valley.

This cache takes a bit of effort to get to. The first part of the trail is steep. It then flattens out to open fields and then a fireroad. As long as the water level in Lake Anderson is below the spillway you can walk over to a good spot to start which is located at these coordinates 37 10.107 N 121 37.715 W. This used to be a trail in the brush that was burned over, but is now just a bush-wacking animal path. (Grab Sunset Ridge GCHH0F on the way by) If you have a strong set of quads you may try the direct route up from near the area of Coyote Bike Trail Homestead II waypoint: GCM7PA

Lots of room to run for a dog up here in the meadow and along the fireroad, but watch for snakes, cows and Cougars. I have never seen any Cougars but lots of park signs down below indicating that they are around. Occasional deer and coyote sightings. Remember to bring lots of water and sun screen. Enjoy the view and the pine trees. Cache is in an ammo box.

Be careful in taking alternate routes back down the hill. Just to the SW of the cache is the Holden and James Boys Ranch. I doubt the guards would enjoy you crawling over their perimeter fences!
