The question has been asked, what IS an AFDB?....the correct term is Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie, or AFDB, as it is commonly known that tin lacks the necessary deflective capabilities found in aluminum. The primary purpose of an AFDB is to prevent psychotronic manipulation by the New World Order, (Novus Ordo Mundi), the Illuminati and their NSA/CIA cronies. Our Government has long known about the deflective properties of aluminum, as evidenced by the fact that the town of Roswell New Mexico was founded in 1910, the same year that aluminum foil was patented. Coincidence? Consider this: The Reynolds company was hastily moved from it's small factory in Ohio, to Roswell, in 1947, two weeks prior to the infamous UFO crash. They were directed by Congress in a top secret meeting, to change from being a generic milling company to a mass producer of aluminum foil. Coincidence?
For those doubting Thomases amongst us, I offer one more piece of evidence: In 1974, an unidentified Congressman released a Top Secret document titled TINFOIL-HATS, an acronym for Theory Integrating Numerous Flying Object Incidents Likely Having Associations To Slayings, a unified theory that explained the JFK assassination in terms of alien involvement and a government coverup. This document was printed in its entirety by the New York Press, shortly before their entire building mysteriously burnt to the ground, bankrupting the owners. The Government offered funding to that paper's only significant competition, the New York Times, who promptly issued a story refuting the TINFOIL-HATS theory. To date, the New York Times has refused numerous requests for any and all supporting documents or sources of information for this so called rebuttal. Coincidence?

Whatever you believe, join in the fun as we create our AFDB's for a contest testing your skills in well, hat making! The brain we save may be your own.

Play in the pasture of our farm-to-be, warm yourself by the fireplace in our new barn or by the giant bonfire outside! Meet some new cacher’s and swap some caching stories with old friends.
There will be a seasoned log to sign, you can exchange travel bugs, and don’t forget to make your own boat for the 2nd Annual Creek Race along the banks of recently renamed Hawk's Creek.
Sometime in the afternoon you can learn about other things to do with your GPS as RanHefner gives a talk about GPSGames.org
And, it wouldn't be a Creekside event without the now famous
Chili Cook-Off!!

Bring a pot of your Chili or just your appetite. Sample and vote for your favorite cacher’s Pot-o-Chili then feast by the creek!
There will be some prizes awarded for everyones favorites.

After the festivities you can take a hike on the trails on the upper part of the farm.
Or enjoy hunting for one of the many Geocaches and Terracaches that are hidden around Marion and spectacular Linville Gorge (just minutes away).
Terracachers take note! Hints to Terrabot's location will be traded for donations to the NC Foothills Geocachers!
The event will go on rain or shine and depending on the weather, we'll be camping along the creek overnight Saturday.
Ya'll are welcome to bring your tents or RV’s! We’ll tell ghost stories around the bonfire, enjoy some adult beverages and roast some marshmallows and PEEPS. The morning may bring blueberry pancakes.
It’s primitive camping for the hardiest of souls, but there are also the following hotels (which I am in no way affiliated with) just a mile and a half up the road:
Hampton Inn 828-652-5100
Super 8 Motel 828-659-7940
Days Inn 828-659-2567

Proud to be a member of the newest forum in the geocaching mountains: NCMAGeocachers.com Check out the site!! Link
And as always, offer up lots of love to Mr&MrsParrothead for their web site: NCFoothills-Geocachers.com Link
Without them, none of this would be possible!
Post note: We have also joined forces with numerous other cachers around the world to link this event with theirs through the Geobañolados of Madrid, Spain. It's all in celebration of PI day. (No, not poison ivy, the math Pi lol) Anyway, there will be a web cam involved and who knows what else as the world wide linking of events is progressing as we speak.
