Geocache Description:

This lonely location is isolated from other buildings and surrounded by trees. Only the Chancel now remains of the original church although it is in good condition. This is an easy walk, suitable for dogs on leads and children. This is a very atmosperic place. Some think it may be haunted....

This church was built around 1250 but the village centre subsequently grew some 1/2 mile further down the road. The original church fell into disrepair and this location can get flooded into Winter so that it is almost inaccessible. During floods in early 2020, I saw a farmer from the adjacent farm going to feed his cows with hay loaded in his canoe!

The villagers decided to move the nave of the church to a new location in 1896, but the chancel remains in it's original location, now some distance from any other buildings. It is a very peaceful location.

Further information about the church is here.

There is parking at N51°38.321', W01°54.879' or alternatively on the grass verge near the footpath.

The cache is in a camo bag.
