urban legends:
distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized stories thought to be
factual by those circulating them
rural legends: urban
legends that happen to be true in a rural setting
At a recent Geocaching event,
some caching buddies of mine were discussing urban legends about
poison ivy. We decided that, as incredible as some of the stories
seem, Geocachers simply get poison ivy too often for the stories
not to be true. Ever vigilant for a loophole, we decided by
committee that such stories must, in fact, be rural legends rather
than urban ones.
Never fear, though! This cache
is not located near any poison ivy. You’re looking for a
magnetic nano in a semi-“rural” setting. Bring your own
pen and tweezers if you don’t like fighting with nano logs.
Have fun and feel free to include any rural legends you might know
about in your online logs.
