A small container hidden near to the Bait Al Zubair Museum in Muscat.
Only 50 years ago, the Sultanate of Oman had only one asphalted road, from Muttrah to Muscat. Parts of that first road ever built in Oman still exist today and provide a scenic route into the Capital.
A series of 8 caches have been hidden starting at Riyam Park and ending at the Bait Al Zubair museum in Muscat along a distance of 1.8 km. You can drive the entire road and access each cache by car, but why not leave your car behind at the Riyam Park parking area, or get there by taxi, and walk the trail of caches until you reach the Bait Al Zubair museum in Muscat? Reward yourself with a refreshment at the museum and let one of many taxis passing by return you to your starting point.
The Bait Al Zubair is a private museum hosting the Al Zubair family’s collection of Omani artifacts, such as ancient weapons, khanjars, traditional household equipment, costumes, art, stamps, coins and antique books. There is a garden with a replica of an old suq, a gift shop and a restaurant. Opening hours are Saturday to Thursday from 09:30 am to 18:30 pm. A nominal entry fee is payable to visit the museum.
The cache is hidden just outside of the museum and consists of a small magnetic cache containing a logbook and pencil. There is place only for small GCs. Please ensure use the required stealth as the place is normally crawling with visitors arriving in cars and buses. Please hide the cache once you have signed the log by replacing it in the same place that you have found it, not visible to the casual passer-by
