Raceway Woods, currently under the stewardship of the Kane County
Forest Preserve District and Dundee Township, is in the footprint
of the former Meadowdale International Raceway. The track opened in
September 1958, a mere 6 months after issuance of a building
permit, and closed about 10 years later due to falling attendance
and management changes. Built mostly on level farmland, the
3.27-mile course featured a 180-degree Monza wall, a 4000-foot
straightaway, and a variety of curves and climbs through the woods.

There are interesting track remnants at this cache hiding place
… let your imagination wander as you hunt our small (5-1/2” x
7-1/4” x 2-1/2”) camo-painted Tupperware container. Lots of small
trinkies inside to please young and old cachers alike. Cache
ratings, of course, may vary due to season changes and weather
conditions.
Please be considerate of cachers who will follow you … We
suggest that you trade fairly (golf balls, wrinkled Monopoly money,
pocket lint, bottle caps and broken stuff are not trading items)
and that you take a moment to re-seal the container properly (it
has a nice TupperSeal) and to re-conceal it at least as well as you
found it.
We used the Huntley Rd. parking lot/trail access when we placed
this cache ... unsure what barriers you might encounter from the
Route 31 lot.
The only clue we are giving lies in the cache name … if you have
problems finding the container and/or can’t figure out the hint,
drop us an email and we’ll help you out.
Have fun … and enjoy your visit to Raceway Woods.
