Geocache Description:

This cache is now approved by PIPC and carries the permit number HO5-2.
It overlooks Lake Stahahe in Harriman.

Park off Route 106 where the white bar trail crosses. Take the White Bar across the parking lot, which after a short trail section emerges onto a woods road. This road, Island Pond Road, was built about 1905 for Harriman's farm, widened in 1927, then in 1934, CCC did some work on it, and in 1966 was gravel covered (per the Myles trail guide, Harriman Trails). Very soon the road will split between the White Bar Trail to the right and Island Pond road to the left up the hill. Ascend on the road toward the left.

Although the GPS will indicate divergence if you stay on the road, bushwacking across a glenn is not recommended. Instead, there is a faint blue/white dot trail off the left hand side of the Island Pond Road at approximately N 41 14.58 W 74 08.88. This point is just before the noticeable division of Pine trees and Mountain Laurel. If you reach the white-marked Nurian Trail on the right,or the yellow trail, on the left you have gone too far.
The footway for the unmarked trail is faint and sometimes difficult to follow. However in March of 2006, there are plans to mark this route to Stahahe High Peak, and there are now pink flagging tapes to help you on your way.

The cache has been moved from its original hiding place at the high point close to the indian pole marker, because of increased activity in the area. It is now stashed short of the summit, and after logging your find you should most certainly proceed to spend some time at the spectacular viewpoint.
