TRL Ripoff Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pofe: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks,

Geocache Description:

A small micro-cache located in a busy park in the hub of Morris County.

This cache is a re-incarnation of my earlier "Shortest NJ Multi-Stage" cache that was in this same vicinity. When I went to investigate the fate of the original cache, I was surprised to find it right where it was intended to be. Still, I decided to retrieve and re-do, in an attempt to slightly decrease the muggle difficulty, and fix issues with a damp log. So, here goes. This new cache begins with a different puzzle.

It derives its new name from one of the more familiar geocaching teams in North Jersey, mainly because it is a direct descendent / rip-off of some of their caches :) So, those of you who know what "TRL" means may have an easier time with this cache.

Your quest starts at the above coordinates for Stage 1. There, you will find a stone commemorating a buried time capsule. There is a range of years written on the time capsule. You will need the total of these two years making up the range. For instance, if the years were 2005 - 3000, then the total would be "5005". This total becomes "XYYX".

The coordinates for stage 2 then become:

N40 47 (X+X)(Y+2)(X+X-2)

W74 28 (X*2)(Y+5-3)(2*X + 1)

Note: The () do not mean multiplication, and are only there to seperate the digits of the coordinates. You’ll need to call upon some stealth at the cache sight, although it’s not the worst I’ve seen! Since the last cache proved more difficult than I had thought, the difficulty on this one starts at 3 stars, and will adjust accordingly, if need be. Hopefully, this cache will stay put for a while. As always, any cache issues, please let me know. Enjoy!
