Chesfield Sudoku Part 1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bill&ben: If we've done our sums correctly there should be no more clue sheets in the cache. The clue sheet is now on the page for Chesfield Sudoku (was Part 2). So by bye cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache is Part 1 of a two part multicache. The cache is a 1L
container containing a log book, pencils, some small goodies and
copies of a Sudoku puzzle which are needed to solve Part2 of the
cache. It is suggested that you make two trips to find the two
caches allowing you to solve the puzzle between the two visits.

A convenient start point for the walk is the layby at N51 55.617 W000 12.572. Take the path to the left just South of the layby at N51 55.562 W000 12.579. At N51 55.482 W000 12.198 take the path to the left to Chesfield. The walk (approximately 3.4 miles round trip) from there takes you through Forster country, named after the author E. M. Forster. This is a prime example of the pen being mightier than the sword – but for E.M. Forster you would be walking through the suburbs of Greater Silkingrad (see GCP604). For those who do not fancy the walk there is limited parking near Chesfield Stables.

The coordinates are for a geocache which contains copies of a Sudoku puzzle (rated easy) for you to take away which must be solved in order to find the coordinates for the second cache. For the tiny few of you who have missed out on the Sudoku puzzle craze, which appear in nearly every daily paper now, here is the basic idea. A Sudoku grid consists of a 9x9 grid of squares which are also grouped into 3x3 sub squares. The squares can contain numbers between 1 and 9. The 3x3 sub squares and each row and column can only contain each of the numbers 1-9 once. For more details of Sudoku and tips on solving them see the website www.sudoku.com.

Once you have solved the Sudoku puzzle the coordinates for the real cache can be found as described in Chesfield Sudoku Part2. Both caches are located around the long lost village of Chesfield. The village became de-populated around the time of the black death.
