Overlooking Tonopah Test Range - Birthplace of the F-117 Stealth Fighter Wing USAF
This cache may be a tough one but it is certainly worth it. Some locals that I know that work out at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR) showed me this hill and I couldn't resist placing it. Be sure to bring some good binoculars or a low power telescope and to watch your track on your GPS as soon as you are off the main road (that way you can find your way back!).

To get there, head out of Tonopah, NV on US 6 to N 38' 08.977 W 116' 34.778 and turn right on the gravel road. Then turn left at either N 38' 02.357 W 116' 38.145 or head farther down to N 38' 00.965 W 116' 38.944. Continue down the road for 2.5 miles and you will come to a cross roads at these coords. N38' 00.229 W116' 36.193; you now have a decision to make. If you have a two-wheel drive vehicle or would like a smoother ride, continue straigh ahead to the East-Southeast. If you have a 4x4, take a right and follow the road all the way around. Wave at the geocache "Golden Arrow" as you go past the ruins. Then continue down the trail to the cache. Watch out for Horses!

If you only have a two-wheel drive vehicle, park at N 37' 54.336 W 116' 33.387 and walk in. It's only .37 Mile hike but it is a pretty good incline. We turned at the parking spot, stuck it in four wheel drive and headed up the hill.

Original contents were:
-Jar of Jewels
-Jar of Crochet Doily
-Embossing stamp square
-Toy Frog
-Pass the Pig Game
-Old Timers Knife
-Keychain flashlight
-Lighter
-Bible (Be sure to read Romans 8:18-19 and the last page)

Enjoy the view. Most of what you are looking at was top secret for many years and there are some who still speculate that something is still going on. Be sure to read the letter that talks about TTR and the 37th Fighter Wing. Who knows what else might streak through the sky while you're there.

Blue Side Up!

Out with NEVADAWOLF and SKWERL, came down from Golden Arrow. Great hill climb, both in truck and walking. Very nice view, but cold and windy today. Wolf founf a flashlight at the top of the first hill. TFTC, THLNSL....trekrr

This was a great cache! After visiting Golden Arrow, NevadaWolf, Trekrr and I bounced off down one of the many dirt highways in the area. When we finally arrived at the base of the correct hill, we were confronted by a steep slope. Dropped the MGS into 4 Low and crawled up the hill. Nice and bumpy, but otherwise uneventful. Decided to walk the last 0.15 even though the slope was less challenging, since it was a good excuse for a walk. The cold wind sucked the air out of our lungs, but we had a great time exploring benchmarks on top of the hill. TN, left a signature SKWERL pathtag. Thanks for a good one!

Enjoying caching out in this beautiful state with SKWERL and Team GeoDragon!

So here we are bouncing around the desert after Golden Arrow. First one direction, then another, and finally we get to the base of the hill. Figuring out how to get into 4-Low took longer than it did to get up the road. A great hike to the top took us to a great view of the area. Thanks so much for the wonderful cache on this cool hill!

18:31. I needed the difficulty/Terrain rating for the complete cacher challenge. I thought that I had taken a wrong turn but kept on driving until the road turned the right direction. I have a 4x4 with a set of honkin' tires on it so I drove to the top. I found the cache at sunset so it was rather spectacular. TFTC. TNLNSL
