Geocache Description:

Located between Otter Point and Otter Cliffs in Acadia National Park.

This is a VIRTUAL cache. That means there's no cache container here! Log your visit by finding information that's on the plaque at this spot. Read on for more info!

This Acadia virtual requires a short hike on a trail along the rocky coast of Otter Point. Try to go when there's a storm off the coast; the real fun of this place is seeing waves crash against the rocks.

The parking lots are off of the Park Loop Road. The quickest way to get there is to take the Otter Cliff Road off of Route 3 past Bar Harbor. Careful for deer on the road. Once on the one-way Loop Road, park in either the Otter Cliffs or Otter Point parking lots; I'd highly recommend the hike from the Otter Point one at N 44º 18.462132' W 68º 11.54511'. Take some time to relax on the rocks or enjoy the views.

Coming from Otter Point, there's a plaque on the left of the trail (no need to get off the trail at all). To confirm your visit, please send a message to me with the two types of trees mentioned on the plaque ("these groves of ______ and ______"). As with other virtuals, PLEASE DO NOT POST THE ANSWER, EVEN ENCRYPTED, IN YOUR LOG HERE. If you'd like to take a picture of yourself to post, please take one on the rocks or maybe with Sand Beach behind you, but not the plaque.

Please BE CAREFUL if you decide to explore the rocks along the coast. The rocks can be very slippery when wet, and the sea along this portion of the island is very treacherous. Unless you are sufficiently prepared, please stay on the trail. Also, please respect the plant life of the area and do not trample it.

Please support the park by purchasing a park pass at an Acadia visitor center, the entrance station just north of Sand Beach on the Park Loop Road, the park headquarters on Route 233, or at the Bar Harbor Village Green.
