The Greek Olympians - Aphrodite Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ezio10: I've been giving a lot of thought regarding the fate of this Hidey Award winning series. After doing so, I've decided to finally retire this series for the following reasons:

1.) It has not seen much action lately. Can't keep a series running when there hasn't been any activity in months, particularly Ares and Mount Olympus.
2.) This series has run its course having been active for four years. The longer it runs, the less amusing it becomes.
3.) I no longer live in Hampton Roads. Long story short, when I placed this series, I was actually still away from Virginia Beach, it's just that I was down here more often to do church-related projects as well as projects for my old house. Since those are no longer the case, I haven't been down there often. Living in Northern Virginia for a couple years now, it's becoming a challenge to come down here for the sake of replacing these caches. But if there is one reason to go to Virginia Beach, it is one thing only: people. The friends that I have from elementary and middle school, my Emmanuel Episcopal Church family, and my geocaching friends are why that I continue to come down here, just not as often as I use to. Of course I'll be doing some caching here, but I just can't commit to replacing my caches down here anymore. There was one time last year I was in Virginia Beach only to replace Poseidon and Hermes. The day that I replaced them, my time was very limited because I had to be in Richmond that night for a family dinner. As I was leaving town, my car had an engine problem, so I had to take it to a mechanic. Thankfully it was a minor issue, and it was fixed in less than a hour, but I ended up being in Richmond super late. I do not want to drive down here purposely to replace my caches, especially for a series that involves 13 caches.

As much as I like to keep this Hidey Award winner active, archiving it is the right thing to do. I want to give my thanks to those who have either found or attempted at least one cache in this series despite not having been found in a while....and a HUGE thanks to the GCHR community for nominating and voting for this one as the bronze winner for Outstanding Series AND Outstanding Cache Theme/Title. You guys have inspired me to continue to place more caches, but unfortunately just not in this region. Being recognized in a caching award ceremony taught me a lesson to place some good and interesting caches. As a result, I have a cache up in NoVA that ended up winning an award for THE Best Historical Cache of 2016.

I will try to make a trip here next month to retrieve my caches. However if someone would like to retrieve at least one of them for me, that would be super appreciative. Just hit me a message and I'll give you the coordinates for the Greek Olympian(s) you choose to retrieve. Also, I'm thinking about hosting a geocaching meet-up event (leaning towards Mount Trashmore) so I can visit my geocaching friends and meet new ones in Hampton Roads. Again, thanks to those who have found or attempted this series.
