Geocache Description:

park on main road at N 39*19.808
W 111*30.064
walk along trail south west until you get to a huge pine tree at aprox. N 39*19.777
W 111*30.121
This is the largest pine on the Manti la-sal. follow trail south west to cache. this will bring you into an open flat with a great view of Ephraim.

In 1853 when the Keebler co. was founded, they searched the entire world for the perfect spot to hide their magic ovens used by elves to bake those wonderful treats. The search resulted in two possible sights, this gigantic pine (which is the largest pine on the Manti la-sal) and a hollow elm tree in Illinois. It was looking good for the giant pine in the remote mountains of Utah, until extensive research on the cost of hollowing out the pine concluded that the already hollow elm was much more cost effective.
This cache is a tribute to the giant pine that could have been; and the elves who with the help of their magic ovens bring us those delicious treats.
