Geocache Description:

I have been planning this cache for some years now so hopefully its good. The best time to visit the park is late August and all through September when all the plants come back into flower

This cache will take you on a tour through 10ha of Fagan Park known as the Gardens of many Nations.

Please bring your family, a picnic lunch and your push bikes, scooters, kites and several hours as the park is well worth a look around.

***PLEASE NOTE*** There is no need to enter any waterways (dams & creeks) or trample any bush, other plants or parts of the gardens whilst attempting this cache. All way points are hidden in such a way they can be accessed from the pathways or just off them
so PLEASE DON'T TRAMPLE THE PLANTS!

The 55 hectares of land known as Fagan Park, in Galston NSW, was part of a grant of Crown Land made by Governor Lachlan Macquarie to George Hall on 13th November 1819.

- 21st November 1881 - land grant was subdivided into 45 Allotments within 2 Sections.
- 4th June 1892 - four allotments in section 2 were purchased by brothers William and Samuel Fagan.
- 1901 - 1911 - additional allotments were purchased by William and Samuel Fagan.
- 20th December 1912 - Samuel Fagan acquired William's half share of the properties.
- 24th February 1921 - additional allotments purchased by Samuel Fagan.
- 24th December 1926 - Samuel Fagan transferred four allotments to his son Bruce (aged 22yrs) for 10 /-.
- 5th July 1948 - Samuel died.
- 12th February 1950 - all properties were transferred to Bruce. Bruce and his two sisters continued to manage the properties
- 4th December 1979 - after much negotiation, Bruce conveyed the entire property of 55 hectares to the Crown (The Minister of Lands) under a Deed of Gift.
- 21st April 1983 - Hornsby Council resolved to develop Fagan Park as its bicentennial project. As a result 'The Gardens of Many Nations' were created on areas of the land which once used for orchards and dairy herds. These gardens include walkways and cycle paths for use by the public as well as picnic areas, childrens' playgrounds, toilets and car parking spaces.
- 1989 - The Friends of Fagan Park formed as a resolution of Hornsby Council. These are dedicated volunteers who maintain the homestead, outbuildings and historic farm machinery for public display.

History of the Gardens of many Nations. (taken from an information board)

In 1984, following the appointment of a landscape architect, designs commenced. Within the year, 12 hectares of land were cleared, the Fagan Park boundary was fenced and a water supply established through the construction of additional dams in the park. Under a 1986 Community Employment Program, Local unemployed people learnt new skills while developing the Gardens of North and South America. With a Bicentennial Grant of $350,000 in 1987, the gardens were further developed to showcase garden styles from all over the world.

Not everyone supported the Gardens concept. Some Orchardists and farmers were concerned that the exotic species might attract fruit fly and other destructive insects. Others wanted regeneration of the Australian native landscape and objected to what they saw as an artificial and commercial theme park development.

Today the ornamental landscapes reflect the history of international garden styles adopted at various times in Australia.
The Gardens feature plantings from Australia, Japan, China, The Netherlands, England, Africa, The Mediterranean and North and South America. There are also fascinating structures and water features typical of the architecture of these regions. The Gardens provide a unique horticultural attraction and general interest for visitors to the park

There is an entry fee of $5 to drive into the park however this money helps pay for the up keep of the park.
There are 2 parking areas available the main parking is located off Arcadia Rd and the secondary parking area is located of Carrs Rd
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now on to how to find the cache.

at the listed co-ords you will find the Arcadia Rd entrance to the car park where you can park the geo mobile and begin your trip around the world.

At each of the way points and at the co-ordinates listed below you will find part of the final co-ordinate, which is located in each of the gardens. Collect all parts and the final way point will reveal itself. You can complete the way points in any order you wish

I have purposely intended for some of the way points to be harder than others and not all way points are the same so keep looking.

If you really cant find them call or text me on 0411326021 or e-mail me and I will help you out
