Geocache Description:

This event is being sponsored by the Shelby Township Parks & Rec department. The above coordinates are for the parking lot of the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center.

Come out to Shelby Riverbends Park & the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center for an evening of haunted caching and spirited fun.

The gates are being kept open late for one night only for a special session of spooky night caching in this park that usually closes at dusk.

There will be several new caches and some special temporary "trick or treat" caches set up throughout the park. Since this is a Halloween themed event, costumes are encouraged, but not necessary. There will be a contest for best costume though. Winners will get FTF envelopes and be given a headstart. Kind of like a FTF raffle, just a bit different. Prizes will be given to the top male, female, and child costumes based on the number of new caches that we have.

We will be providing pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and bottled water. Please bring a dish to pass. We will also have a campfire burning for most of the night at the nature center, so people can hang out or just stop by and visit between caches. Bring a bag of marshmallows and tell your favorite scary caching story.

Below is the schedule for the event:

6:00pm-Registration & dinner
6:45pm-Costume Contest
7:00pm-Costume contest winners will be sent out with FTF prizes
7:30pm-Begin Caching for all others
Midnight-Gates will be closed

Shelby Township Parks & Rec will be offering a Geocaching class to residents at 5:00pm, so there may be some new cachers, as well as some ghouls and goblins, out in the woods and park with you.

Riverbends Park is over 800 acres of land, and there will be many caches along the trails, as well as a few terrifying surprises. This is a great chance to cache in a location that is normally closed after dark.

The folks at the nature center will be placing some kid friendly trick or treat style caches, so bring the kids out for some Halloween fun

Please come out and join us for a frighteningly good time.
