Hermitage Road - TCDNAB Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

GeoKs: Despite our best efforts, we've been unable to locate materials necessary to repair this cache and its associated camo to our satisfaction. It was a hard decision to archive this cache. Hopefully someone else will come up with a great concept for a new hide in this area, which is well-suited for a TCDNAB hide. Thanks for all the favourite points and the positive comments over the past four years.

Geocache Description:

Search for TCDN-caches

You’ve driven by it thousands of times. Who or what was Hermitage? Why did they name a road after Hermitage? Where does Hermitage Road go? Why does it merit its own interchange on the mighty TransCanada Highway?

Well, this cache will answer none of these questions!

The whole point of bringing you here is so you can tell your friends, loved ones and fellow cachers that you have been on the “famous” Hermitage Road. You can access this cache while traveling eastbound or westbound on the TransCanada Highway; there is a one lane underpass. Please do not park on the TransCanada Highway.

This drive-up cache should provide a couple of minutes of diversion. You are searching for a well-camo'd, magnetic, green bison tube so BYOP. Please rehide carefully to preserve the challenge of the hunt for the next cacher. Be sure you listen for a “click” when replacing the cache.

This cache is one of three caches we’ve hidden along the TransCanada Highway between Calgary and Canmore. This stretch of road is well travelled by the GeoKs during the summer and fall as we hit the hiking trails. The cache containers will be getting larger as you head west / smaller as you head east. You can decide what order you would like to find them as they are all accessable eastbound or westbound.

NOTES: All cache hides were constructed using materials salvaged elsewhere. There is no need to cross/climb any fencing to retrieve the caches.

UPDATE (Sep. 22, 2008): Due to consistently positive feedback, we have added two more caches to the series Ridge Road GC1GG5D and Triple S Red Angus GC1GG60.

If you haven't already found it, we encourage you to take Hermitage Road south to hunt for Sleepy_hollow's A Little off the Beaten Track GC1AY10.
