Geocache Description:

Europe's First (GC43) has become something of a pilgrimage destination for geocachers from all over the world, with many meet & greet events planned by visitors in the area. Come & join us in cleaning up Naylor's Cove nearby GC43, and make it somewhere we would be proud that visiting cachers see.

Cache In, Trash Out

Cache In Trash Out, or CITO, is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

The Event

The event will take place on Sunday 21st September, 2014 from 11am. We will meet at the green area on the way up to Bray Head (see starting coordinates), before proceeding down the steps to Naylor's Cove. The terrain rating has been set at 4.5 to take in to account the steep descent to the cove, the steep grassy banks and the rocky areas (both of which can be quite slippy when wet). Please take care when cleaning up. If you're not happy with terrain in a particular area, just leave it and move on to the next piece of trash (of which I believe there will be a lot, after the summer in Bray!)

Directions

Anyone who has attended a meet and greet near Europe's First will be familiar with the carpark for this event (see waypoint for coords). Cars can be parked free of charge. Please note that parking is at your own risk. Alternatively, you can park along Bray Promenade (also free on a Sunday).

If you don't have access to a car, you can take the DART to Bray and walk along the promenade to GZ (maximum 20 minute walk). The 145 bus will also leave you to Bray DART station.

What to Bring

  • Work or garden gloves (required)
  • A litter picker, if you have one
  • Hiking Boots/Wellingtons
  • Rainwear

This event is being organised in conjunction with Wicklow County Council and we hope to have litter pickers, gloves and bin bags provided by them. I will make an announcement about the availability of these items closer to the time, but if you have your own litter pickers and gloves, please bring them along.
