This is one of the Route Caches from the 2nd Annual GBES Navigational Geocache Rally
This is the first Route Cache of the night rally.
It is located on the old Sheckler Reservoir. Don’t let the map on the cache page worry you. It has not been used in years. But, just in case the Truckee Carson Irrigation District decides to fill it (if we ever get out of this drought) the cache was placed on one of the larger hummocks/islands.
If you are lucky enough to be out here when there is water in the reservoir you may also be lucky enough to witness the hatchings of millions of Dragonflies and a variety of waterfowl. Of course, if there is water in the reservoir you’re going to need a canoe, rowboat or personal watercraft to access the cache.
Since the rally was conducted during a year when water was not on the reservoir the course went right across it.
