mrking: This spot is to great for a cache that takes so long to work through. Archiving so someone else can better use the spot.

Geocache Description:

Title
I decided to make this a puzzle cache and have you do all the work while on the computer instead of in the field. The find should be relatively easy once you solve the puzzle. Cache is in a large ammo can with lots of space for good swag. Please keep the swag decent if you can.

The cache is NOT at the above coordinates, if they were you would be swimming out to them, but is within 3km.

Before the earths crust was divided into the present day continents, the early inhabitants were highly advanced and had been placing “geometric circles” on its surface for millennia. The exact reason is not known, but present day scientists believe they were used as advanced statistical markings to see how fast the earths crust was separating.

It just so happens that there is a local area where three centre markings were found. However the centres are now covered under the waters of the Pitt River.

A radio transmission, believed to be 1,000,000 years old, was intercepted with the following data:

  • W1: 10U E 521113 N 5457912; R0.3
  • W2: 10U E 521359 N 5457566; R0.6
  • W3: 10U E 521023 N 5457122; R0.3

Further in the transition were two other numbers referred to as ‘beta’.

  • B1: R0.5
  • B2: R0.5

It is your job as an archaeologist to determine the use of the strange 'beta' values.

The origins of these beta values are currently undetermined. However, it is believed that the ‘beta’ centres are located at the intersection of a path between the first data points and the original R values, but this is yet to be proven.

The only other data that was saved was the following writing. Scientists translated most of it except for two words (in blue):

“The benchmark centre is located at the most of W4 and W5 R values.”

We trust that you can solve this puzzle to reveal the location in which the ancient inhabitants had marked so many years ago.

The cache is located at the “benchmark centre”

Note that the cache is located in a very popular and well used area. Choose your time wisely to avoid getting caught.
