Geocache Description:


This is a dinosaur theme cache. So dust off your fossils and your plastic miniature dinosaurs and bring them to the Amateur Paleontologist Cache.

This is a great spot for young geocachers. After you find the cache, you can dig up actual replicas of fossils found in Texas, follow dinosaur tracks, and view fossils from the 301 Congress Avenue construction site.

The container is a camouflaged peanut butter jar. [Update 1/21/09 - it's a micro now - we had to "recall" the peanut butter :-) ] Just like a real paleontologist, you amateur ones may have to move a rock or two to find the cache, but there is no digging involved. You do not need to step outside the boundary areas of the exhibit space. Please put the cache back carefully because this spot can have a lot of muggles around it. It is especially busy on weekends and during the summer when families and school groups want to get out on a nice day.

After you find the cache, wander around the grounds to see the other exhibits. There are also some great trails to walk around the area.
