Geocache Description:

This night cache can ONLY be done at night.

This is for all those Geocachers who are a little nuts.

The coordinates listed are not the actual cache coordinates. They are for the starting point.

Albert the Christmas Squirrel is missing. After being placed in January of 2003 this little cache introduced many cachers to the park known as Stanky Creek. It has been archived so we will use Albert’s last known location to begin this hunt.

Park in the lot on Yale Road and then take the Blue trail at the west end of the parking lot to the posted coordinates. The starting point is a piece of yellow reflective tape with a white reflector in the middle Use your flashlight to find the first pair of “eyes “ above eye level on a tree. Walk to the tree with the eyes” and move your flashlight over the trees to find the next set of “eyes”. Follow the reflective “eyes” from tree to tree. One set of “eyes” is on a fallen tree. All others are on standing trees. All trees used for this cache have two or more reflectors and the final tree has a row of 8 to 10 reflectors above the cache. Single reflectors next to trails are trail markers and not part of the cache hunt. A pair of medium size reflectors at the top of a tree is a raccoon. Two large moving reflectors is a deer.

IMPORTANT WARNINGS

1. Take a friend, or two, with you. Be sure to let someone know where you are going.

2. Take a spare light source and extra batteries.

3. Mark a waypoint for the parking lot

4. Watch where you step. You will need to cross an old fence, and some streams and gullies.

5. Take a cell phone in case you need help.

6. Take a compass. Yale Road and the parking lot are south of where you are.

7. Take another flashlight, bug spray, and a first aid kit.

This night cache can ONLY be done at night. During the day it is a favorite spot of bikers and hikers. Wear long pants because of underbrush and make sure to use bug spray. Summer isn't the best time to do this cache unless it's just before sunrise when crawling things aren't as active or on an unusually cool night. This search is done much easier without a lot of moonlight.

The cache site is less than half a mile from the parking lot but further following the "eyes". After you find the cache you will want to use your GPS and back track to the easy way out to get back to the parking lot.

As always, watch for snakes.
