Geocache Description:

An interesting cache container can be located in Stowe Landscape Gardens, close to the town of Buckingham in Bucks. It is a large yellow tub and can be located as part of a walk through this picturesque scenery.

After visiting in october '02 Postie quoted about his visit: "Lovely drive round the park. Found the cache easily, but,lid was off when I got to it. Everything was soaking wet, with about 1 inch of water in the bottom. (You might need to visit and dry out the contents Dan & Pid)"

Well after revisiting we found the cache as stated. All contents were drenched. All has now been dried. A new silver log book has been added along with some new pens, and the cache has been wrapped in a large black bag to avoid the same happening again. The container has also been moved and new coords have been posted along with a new clue. The Picture to the left will be a good pointer, please replace the cache carefully as otherwise it will be in clear view of passers by. Thanks to Postie for letting us know :)

The gardens at Stowe, just outside of Buckingham, offer some of the finest examples of landscape gardening in the eighteenth century. Celebrated by the poets William Congreve and Alexander Pope. Adorned with temples designed by James Gibbs, and designed in its evolving forms by Lancelot "Capability" Brown, the gardens provide a fascinating combination of appeals to the head and the heart, the eye and the intellect, of the visitor." - John D. Tatter (Birmingham, Southern College)

Further indepth information can be found by pressing here

Click here for information regarding historic monuments located all over the landscape gardens. The link is from Stowe School's website. Take some time to browse around the site, theres some very interesting stuff here.

After finding the cache make sure to check out Stowe and nearby Buckingham, both are very typically English and historic. I would really recomend this cache to tourists, you would probably never see this place if it wern't for caching!. There are many places near to the gardens to eat and get a drink. Good luck and have fun, Dan & Pid.
